Who says skincare is for those who have a lot of time on their hands? Definitely not Adetuke Morgan; Saxophonist, Content Creator, Lifestyle Blogger, Natural Skin and Haircare enthusiast and Mother. Curiosity struck us as we took a peep into her busy routine, especially having to combine the duties of a nursing mother with her business yet still have time for skincare. Seamlessly, she made us understand that she has made skincare one of her few priorities, “it is a form of self-care for me.” Furthermore, she talked to us about why she began her haircare blog and the secrets of skincare hidden in the little details we easily overlook. In this interview, she expounds on a few skincare tips, her favourite natural products, and advises those who are struggling to come to term with their skin type.
In one word, how would you define your skin?
My skin is improving, pregnancy affected it negatively but with a consistent skincare regimen, I’ve seen good progress.
Share your morning skin routine with us?
So I wash my face with my Garnier or simple facial wash. I scrub with my simple facial scrub twice a week, use my Pixi toner if I’m not wearing makeup otherwise I moisturize with my simple face moisturizer with SPF 15 then use my Neutrogena hydro boost sunscreen if I’m going out.
Let’s talk about your hair. How often do you rock it naturally?
I rock it naturally pretty often. I’ve done braids twice this year and plan to do it 2 more times. I prefer rocking my natural hair because it’s so versatile. I can switch things up easily with clip-ins or a drawstring ponytail.
What are the products you use consistently to make your skin phenomenal?
Phenomenal? I don’t think my skin is phenomenal yet but I use products from Simple, Garnier and I have recently started using a mix of Maracuja Oil & Wild Carrot Seed Oil at night. I also never sleep with makeup on.
What advice do you have for people who are finding it difficult to come to terms with their type of skin?
Honestly, I would say, accept the skin you have, be comfortable with it. If you have issues with it, go see a professional dermatologist or aesthetician and follow the advice they give.
Based on your experience, how can anyone get to know their skin and hair’s need?
I would say research; reading articles and washing videos on YouTube.
Paying attention to how your skin and hair reacts to certain products.
Seeing a professional if the need arises.
Your Instagram page is absolute goals. Can you share any posting tips?
Thank you.
I like to post in 3’s so that the 3 pictures in one row work together seamlessly. I’ve been posting like this for many years. I like the fact that my page is structured and organized.
Your Instagram feed and highlights show off your travels all over for work. Do you have any tips or tricks on how to do skincare on the go?
That is funny. Travelling all over the world? I haven’t even scratched the surface when it comes to travelling. The next few years will involve a lot more travelling and I can’t wait. I would say buy travel-sized products or get little containers from Primark or Miniso so you can decant your staple products and take them along with you.
What is your advice for people who want to start getting more into skincare but are so used to piling up makeup?
You need to allow your skin to breathe. The earlier you start taking care of your skin, the better.
What inspired you to start a lifestyle blog?
People ask questions about how I style my hair, so I just put the answers in one place, so I can refer people to my Blog or IG page.
Is it just a daily expression of your lifestyle or is it a full-fledged business?
It is both.
How does your skin feel when you’re not wearing any makeup?
It feels great.
Do you use any mask products?
I use the chocolate grains mask from Konyin skincare. I want to try the Garnier moisture bomb sheet mask though.
What’s your favourite skincare product?
My Pixi Glow Tonic.
Maracuja and Wild Carrot Seed Oil mix.
As a busy mom and businesswoman, how do you find time for skincare every day?
I’ve made it a priority and it is a form of self-care for me.
As a mom have you started your kids on any type of skincare like sunscreen?
My baby is only 8 months old, so we haven’t started using sunscreen for him yet, but we visit Dubai in a few weeks, and so we will definitely be using sunscreen for him.
At what age do you think it’s important to start them on a routine?
I am not sure.
